Your Conscience & its Repair
If I could do it all over again....
How wonderful that we feel regret. If we didn't feel regret, then we couldn't listen to
our hearts! Could our hearts be pre-programmed with truth, beauty, fairness,
justice, forgiveness, compassion, empathy, gentleness, sweetness, caring, and all
of the joys that make us so wonderfully human?
Of course! Absolutely! These are all of the parts of our Love machine! And our hearts are Love machines!
When we have done something, or said something,
or experienced something, but then get that
conflicting icky feeling that says: “Oops, I regret
that!,” it's time to thank our beautiful hearts that are
differing with our actions or attitudes. Our heart is
saying: “Hey there, uh, that didn't exactly live up to
the beauty and perfection that we are capable of!”

REGRET REGRET REGRET
When our brains push the regret button it is when we realize that our
hearts are right and we have screwed up, or WE are screwed up.
Now what end could recognizing that we've boo boo-ed serve?
Is it just self judgment and incrimination for sport?
No! Our loving hearts never stop yearning for perfection. So how is perfection attained?
1. Jump! (Live)
2. Fall down. (Screw up)
3. Recognize problem. (Regret)
4. Repair problem. (Make amends)
5. Jump again! (Keep on truckin'!)
6. Repeat until perfection, and then go and sit with Buddha under the bodhi tree!
No matter what has happened, no matter what who has done what to
whom, repair is possible. Repair is necessary for both parties to be
able to move on. Don't let one more minute go by. Even if the
wounded heart no longer beats on land (they're dead), repair is
possible by experiencing your own sacrifice to make amends.
We will replace pride and indignation with repair. We will replace shame with forgiveness of
self. We will live our beautiful humility and treat our pride to a eulogy. I'm so sorry. I'm
ashamed. I regret. I wish to repair. I will make amends at whatever cost is necessary. You
matter to me.
Please forgive me.
And now the heart is joyous for both victim and perpetrator.
And then we return to living instead of regreting, we feel
healed, we are wiser. We are more mature, we are more
humble, more loving. We hope not to violate our hearts
ever again. That is until the next boo boo.

The secret to our clear conscience isn't the absence of falling down, but
our ability to recognize, repair, and lovingly move on. If you cannot take
these steps, then victim and perpetrator remain in prison.
