Quitting Smoking
There is no need here to wax on smoking, or its attraction or danger.  Everyone already knows plenty by now about the health issues awaiting a smoker.  What we need to do now of course, is stop.  Stop because we crave health and a long life more than we crave the martyrdom of inhaling our own death every day.
What we need in all cases of addiction is will power!  Which is ironic considering that addictions grab us precisely because we are escaping from our lack of will power.  That is the proverbial cat chasing its tail!
I can do it! I can’t do it! I can do it!
And around and around we go. The point is: I don’t want to! I want to! I don’t want to! I want to!
So at least if you must reach a desperate: “I have to - I just have to!” A smoker can now do something miraculous

Deep in our heart and psyche is our need itself, the gold itself, bigger and better and brighter than any momentary decoy on the surface.  And the need pulls hard.  Once we find the need itself deep in our past, we can feel the feeling that is craving the smoking; and feeling the need as a feeling instead of an inhale sabotages the whole addiction.
Who would have ever thought that sabotage would ever be such a worthy endeavor!
"Good morning, Honey!,”  says the husband to the wife. "Where are you going so excited?,”  she asks. "I'm off today with my Muse to sabotage my craving and addiction to killing myself,”  says the husband. "Oh good,”  she says.  "That sounds like a good idea!  Have fun Honey!"
Well,  fun it is not.  But mining our own heart and psyche looking for the source of our craving is the most noble thing we will ever do.  For if we succeed we go on living and loving those that love us, and this is the part that is more fun than dying.
With the support and experience Your Personal Muse has waiting for you  . . . . . .You can do it!

And that is to search for the will power, search for the power that we don’t even think that we have, and we don’t know how strong we can be. Smoking soothes and satisfies a primal need in us all.  Our lips are connected to our very selves, and the rush that we feel with the expansion of our lungs as we breathe in deeply through our lips is primal.
How can we ever hope to have the will power to restrain ourselves from satisfying a primal need?
We can , but we are always having to manage powerful will against powerful cravings, for if cigarettes were healthy and therapeutic, no smoker would stop. Smoking is like panning for gold on the surface, searching for the shiny reward that will make us feel like our urge is satisfied, while we know all along that the momentary glimmer we love is actually cyanide, looking so much like gold. Time to dig.  And dig deep.  Like a miner looking for that big discovery!
