That it would be normal to feel hopeless or powerless.
But what if you're rich and famous and powerful, or all three, but constantly beset with FEELINGS of hopelessness and powerlessness?  Why doesn't our internal reality reflect our outward blessings?  Why do we keep striving and proving and fighting against that sinking feeling we have inside?  What are we trying to prove and to whom?
It's like being a skyscraper which was built on soggy ground.  Sinking.  Sinking.  Sinking.
Even sinking skyscrapers feel hopeless and powerless sometimes.  When your foundation isn't solid, when you lack brick and mortar in the parts where you need to be strong, you spend the rest of your life hoping for strength and power.
Hopelessness and Powerlessness
One might imagine that if you are:  poor or destitute,                                        sick or injured,                                               mentally or physically handicapped,                                                   or even seriously down on your luck or fortune:
How can we become strong?                                 Who is responsible?                                                         When did this happen?                            Why did this happen?
How?    You didn't get the approval and praise and support that you needed. Who?    Your parents or caregivers. When?  During your childhood, primarily the first few years. Why?    Because they weren't strong enough themselves to GIVE instead of take. So is this a permanent condition to suffer the rest of your life? Hope-fully  NOT     Power-fully  NOT
Hopelessness and Powerlessness are FEELINGS, not realities.   And these feelings are powerful indeed since they are foundational.  What needs are these feelings serving?  They are reminding us of our early foundational years when we called out earnestly in vain, please:
SEE ME!                        HEAR ME!                                                                                                                                  NOTICE ME! APPROVE OF ME!                                     PRAISE ME!                                                              HELP ME! SUPPORT ME!                                                            BELIEVE IN ME!                                                                                 TRUST ME! CHEER FOR ME!                                   TOUCH ME!                                                            HOLD ME! CARE FOR ME!                                   FORGIVE ME!                                                                   LOVE ME!
And I will become a hope-full and power-ful person!

If we don't get our needs met as infants and children, we can grow up to feel hopeless and powerless. Time to go back and feel the unmet needs of our early years and see Mommy and Daddy as they were: also needy and unfulfilled people.
