Eating Disorders
Aside from the rollercoaster emotions we experience, besides the
physical suffering which plagues us every day, our very life itself is at
stake as we live our eating disorder.
Clean air. Fresh water. Nutritious food. And we live. We may not be happy or prosperous,
but we will live. Those of us with eating disorders are tragically suffering in the most
fundamental manner, for if the illness we suffer from overwhelms us, we die.
Why do some people suffer from some things and not others? Schizophrenia in one
family, criminality in the next, psychosis in another, leukemia where no one would expect it. The
pattern here is that these illnesses consume heart, mind, and body. Eating disorders can eventually
consume all three. How sad and how tragic. How terribly difficult to comprehend and cope with.
How clinically and medically daunting to treat or cure.
All illnesses affect all people differently because of their NATURES. Each of us is like a
snowflake: unique and unlike any other in the world. The NATURE of each snowflake is its
size and shape and texture, its interesting pattern and beauty.
All illnesses also affect all people differently because of their NURTURE.
Each of us is like a snowflake: unique and unlike any other in the world.
The NURTURE of each snowflake depends on the conditions: the wind,
the temperature, the sunlight, and the material that the snowflake falls
upon. The nurture of the snowflake depends on how the elements around
the snowflake affect it.
Hello beautiful snowflake. Thank you for being here to read this. I'm sorry that
something as beautiful as the food you eat is causing you so much suffering.
Yes, your snowflake NATURE, your very design, calls for an eating disorder as
your method for coping with your world, if things don't go well for you as you
float down from the heavens.
But that doesn't mean that you are going to have an eating disorder little snowflake! Your
NURTURE may be so perfect: light sunshine, light breeze, perfect temperature, soft
landing, that you never need to have an eating disorder or any disorder.
Eating Disorders
But if the NURTURE is too harsh or too little, if the winds are high and the sun
blazing, then your innate NATURE, combined with this sad Nurture can cause a life
of suffering and dis-order, where things are not as they should or could be.
The first and most important thing to comprehend about eating disorders, is that
sufferers are tragic victims and never to blame for any reason or in any way. Victim
of what? Nature? Of being born? Never. Impossible. Genetic potential or not,
psychological propensity or not, you were conceived and destined to be perfect,
and you are. Nothing is your fault. Ever.
Victim of nurture? Victim of how you were gestated in the womb, birthed and
cared for, and (not very well) nurtured? Of course. Absolutely. Is there or has
there ever been an imperfect snowflake? Never. Impossible. Do snowflakes ever
get damaged or lost or suffer? Every minute of every day somewhere in the
world. You poor things.
Are we going to let that happen? Not if we can help it.

The second most important thing to comprehend about eating disorders is that it is
not something we should merely "control" or "manage". Treating any disorder falls
short of the compassion that the sufferer deserves. Disorders must be cured.
Victims need to be redeemed and set free. No amount of mental or medical
gymnastics will ever cure an eating disorder. No amount of discipline or control or
support or affirmations will ever control an eating disorder. No drug or treatment or
exercise will ever cure an eating disorder.
If a dear loved one needed your help with their
battle with life giving nutrition, wouldn't you help? Of
course you would. Will you help yourself? Now it's
time to consider your self a dear loved one because
you're going to help yourself.
Only you can cure your eating disorder. To re-order the dis-order
we must first understand why our thinking, controlling minds are
powerless to help us. It is because our thinking, controlling minds
weren't even developed or functioning when the damage was
done. Eating disorders are functions of our first-line minds,
meaning the first things that encoded and engraved our minds
during birth and during the first minutes and hours and days and
months or our lives.
