Artist's Block

Epiphanies and Eurekas are just on the other side of that proverbial wall we find ourselves up against. The often scary and painful, but ultimately ecstatic crossing to the other side of the wall requires much courage and support. Some places we are meant to go alone. Some places are very hard if not impossible to reach without a supportive companion.

The key to getting beyond the obstruction is to brave new inter-personal and inter-worldly experiences which take us outside of our comfort zones. We need to embrace ourselves!

The emotions and catharsis which these experiences expose us to will eventually cause our life to shift on its axis.

When WE have changed instead of our life, we may find that we have gone around the wall instead of over it!

Behind every artist’s block there is a RESISTANCE to open and thereby FEEL and grow.

We then can harness the new feelings and perspectives which are generated and direct them into our art. The beauty, power, and even subtlety of our art then becomes a by-product of our new found self evolution! But beware and be warned! To live we must be brave enough to love and lose and dance and fall down, and laugh and cry the tragedies of our hearts.

We must open our eyes.... ....and our twenty other senses.... ....and take in all of the pain.... ....and suffering.... ....and ecstatic eye-popping joy..... ....which is all around us.

We must feel! We must integrate!

Be strong! Be courageous! You're going to need it!

-Be curious -and passionate -and emotional -and needy -like a newborn baby.

You can't shift on your own axis unless you are, above all... ready to live yell laugh cry

just trying to create your art - and your art would not have it any other way.

And neither would you when you are with your muse.
